In Germany, parents are increasingly hiring private tutors for their children. In particular, about 1,1 million German students are engaged in addition to the tutors. To such conclusion the authors of the study, commissioned by the Bertelsmann Foundation and published in Thursday, January 28. As the agency dpa, this is about one in eight children (12.2 percent) from 9 million schoolchildren who are studying in secondary schools in Germany.

According to the study, each year, parents spend on additional training of their children from 942 million to 1,5 billion euros. In this case there is a big difference between eastern and western Länder of Germany: for example, in the “old” lands tutors in German language for students employ almost twice as likely than in the “new”.

At the same time, the agency ots gives the results of the study “Rechnen in Deutschland”, according to which there is an urgent need to improve knecdowledge of German students in mathematics. Currently, about 600 thousand students from fifth grade, engaged in mathematics further.
