July 15, 2009 in Moscow a meeting of Coordination Council for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Gazprom and the Dutch company Gasunie, chaired by a member of the board, the chief of department of strategic development of Gazprom Vlad Rusakov and a member of the Board,Director of Business Development and Participation in international projects Gasunie Peter Trinekensa.

The parties discussed the implementation of the program of scientific and technological cooperation between Gazprom and Gasunie. This program includes work in the field of gas transportation dispatch control systems, energy saving and environmental protection, ensure the integrity and evaluate the technical condition of pipelines. The meeting also paid attention to new research priorities in the current economic conditions.

Following the meeting the parties noted the constructive cooperation of Gazprom and Gasunie, said Gazprom.

Gasunie transmission network consists of more than 15 000 km of pipelines in the Netherlands and northern Germany, about 1300 gas stations and is one of the largest high-pressure gas networks in Europe. The total throughput of the network reaches about 125 billion cubic meters per year. Gasunie provides transportation services through its subsidiaries Gas Transport Services BV in the Netherlands and Gasunie Deutschland in Germany. In addition, the company offers a range of services in the field of gas infrastructure, including gas storage and LNG.

On 6 November 2007, Gazprom and Gasunie signed a comprehensive agreement on mutual participation in gas pipeline Nord Stream and BBL. Jun 10, 2008 Gasunie has been registered in the register of shareholders of Nord Stream AG as a new shareholder. The proportion of Gasunie in the capital of Nord Stream AG is 9%.
